Pallet racking, also known as heavy-duty racking, beam racking, or pallet storage racking, is one of the most core and widely used storage devices in modern warehousing and logistics systems. Its core principle is to pack goods onto pallets and use forklifts and other machinery to store, retrieve, and move entire pallets, thereby significantly improving warehouse space utilization and operational efficiency.

Pallet racking boasts a large span and high load-bearing capacity. Its span is primarily determined by the size of the pallets. The load-bearing capacity of each layer can be flexibly designed based on the pallet load and number of pallets. For example, if each layer holds two 1000kg pallets, the beams need to bear a load of 2000kg. Pallet racking has a stable structure, requiring expansion bolts at the base for stability. It typically eliminates the need for shelves, requiring only crossbeams on the beams to save costs. The number of layers can be determined based on warehouse height and pallet storage height. The bottom layer may not require beams, allowing pallets to be placed directly on the ground. Pallet racking is a representative of modern warehousing. Since the application of computer control technology to pallet racking in the 1960s, it has become a key component of automated warehousing systems.
